Based on the incredibly light Scandium SC1 frame weighing in at less than 1kg, the SC1 redefines the standard for lightweight road bikes. The model pictured is the SC1 Hyper. After the RB1 and RB2 cycles, these three models complete the Guess road line-up:
SUPER Based on the RB2 Competition but with SC1 frame and Ultegra gears and STI.
HYPER Same as the Super, but Dura Ace gear and brake set-up, Truvativ Rouleur chainset and Guess Prism carbon fibre seat.
ULTRA As the Hyper but Campagnolo Record 10 speed gear/brake/chainset combination.
The Frame
The frame is an alloy of aluminium with added scandium. If you are interested
in the chemistry, have a look at
the www resource center for scientists interested
in the use of Scandium in Aluminum Alloys. There are SOME technical drawings
available by email for those that want the fine details - angles, exact measurements,
etc - for certain models. The sizes available are 51cm, 53cm, 55cm and possibly
still 57cm.
